People have traded freedom and free speech for power. This is all a career is today. Saying the right things to the right people and keeping your mouth shut about everything else. What kind of career would anyone have today if they spoke out and told the truth about what is happening instead of siding with the oppressors? None. I don't want a career, I want a real life. A true life.

I've been rewatching Mindhunter. So much has changed since 2017/2018, when the series came out. When I first watched it back then, it riveted me and fueled my work--the third volume of Time Tells, which I am still writing. Now it just makes me sad. Because the past is even farther away. Now 2017/2018 is the period piece, not the late 1970s in which Mindhunter is set. What was once exciting and worth exploring and thinking about is actually a dead end in this new world, where it turns out everyone is a psychopath and a liar, not just the serial killers of yesterday. I guess I bit off more than I could chew. We all did.
