Jay Dyer on the weaponization of art and narrative control:

“Today almost everything is unwatchable…The further you go back, it was a lot more subtle. The further you go back, there were a lot more truthful films that did have real messages and real content and real warnings…Now there is this weird Maoist element of rewriting the past.”

Another way of saying “unwatchable” is what my my mother and I always say about today’s culture: it’s “beyond interpretation.” And as a thinker and critic (I love to interpret!), when something is beyond interpretation, there is no reason to engage with it anymore.

Decode is not the same thing as interpretation or analysis. Real art cannot be decoded. Decodes are for psyops.
