We’ve completely lost the value and appreciation of high standards—on any level. Everyone is just fine living with mediocrity and shit, “surviving,” and lowering their bar. Gems are thrown away in exchange for banal comfort. Ugliness is called beauty. Trash is “art.” Losers are popular. Conformity reigns. Men are women and women are alone.

We are living in the age of ruin. Ruin is the norm.

As my mother put it this morning: “We live in the dark ages.”

The light is finally here, but do we want it? Do we know what the light is anymore? Do we know how to live for—with—the light? Are we too used to the dark now?
