Some notes on modern “love” (from Time Tells, vol. 2):
“Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.”
-Matthew 24.
Conspiracist Manifesto puts it this way: “The propagation of disastrous human relations is just good for making isolation desirable. It provides the best propaganda for confinement—confinement no longer as an emergency procedure, but as an idea of happiness. As a purely negative ideal of freedom faced with the bothersome ness of others.”
In his review of Yorgos Lanthimos’s Poor Things (2024), Vigilante Citizen arrives at the same conclusion: “Poor Things basically says that these disturbing things are good and desirable in an enlightened society.”
Perversion is conflated with liberation.
In The Art of Loving, Erich Fromm states: “Infantile love follows the principle: ‘I love because I am loved. Mature love follows the principle: ‘I am loved because I love."
In the Swarm, Byung-Chul Han writes: “And so, today, the chains of love have given way to the hell of freedom.”
In order to feel free, hell must look like heaven. We should be ”free” to suffer and cause suffering.
John 1:5: “And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”
