“We are one month into the new 118th Congress and the House has hit the ground running. We’ve already heard hearings on COVID origins, and more are on the docket in the coming weeks to shed light on the bad policies pushed by the White House during the declared pandemic.

The House has created a select subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, chaired by Jim Jordan of Ohio, which is set to have its first hearing February 9. It will examine the ways executive agencies (like HHS) have collected and used information on U.S. citizens. Given what we’ve learned about the ways the White House has deliberately used social media to stomp on the First Amendment rights of citizens, we will keep a watchful eye on the activities of this committee.

In all these meetings, we can expect more accountability and awareness of the public health decisions that hurt -- or even killed -- Americans throughout the declared pandemic.

Some of the bills we are watching:

  • Representative Andy Harris’ HR118 – No Vaccine Passports Act

  • Representative Andy Biggs’ HR72, which prohibits the use of federal funds to maintain or collect information that can be used to identify any individual to whom a COVID-19 vaccine is administered, as well as for other purposes.

  • Representative Thomas Massie’s HR185, which will terminate the COVID vaccine mandate on foreign travelers flying to the United States.

  • Representative Chip Roy’s HR343 – No Taxpayer Funding for the WHO Act

  • Representative Andy Harris’ HR79 – WHO Withdrawal Act

This week the House of Representatives voted on Representative Gosar’s resolution to stop the emergency declarations from the president. The resolution passed the House 229-197. The White House got the message the day before the vote and, after three years of renewing the declaration, announced the COVID-19 emergency will end on May 11. The timing of the White House announcement left Americans questioning the basis on which the White House was creating its policy about COVID and public health. Congressional members are talking about it as well.

What to watch for the in the coming weeks:

The White House is planning their first hearings on February 8 to discuss how the Biden administration handled COVID-19. This means they will call upon some of the top federal health officials from the FDA to the NIH to testify before Congress.

Stand for Health Freedom will keep watching bills, proposed regulations, and hearings to keep you informed on health freedom at the local level.”
