Kubrick’s clues.

One eye/All seeing eye

A Clockwork Orange, 1971

The Shining, 1980

2001: A Space Odyssey, 1968. The computer as all-seeing eye, predictive lip reader.

The computer was once the all-seeing eye known as the Egyptian sun god, Horus

Trauma, fragmentation, splitting, dissonance/Forever and ever and ever.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen “As theologians dropped the demonic, the psychiatrists picked it up… Today we are beginning either to domesticate the Devil or else to deny him…What, then, is the mark of the daemonic from the psychiatric point of view? Division, splitting, confusion, disruption.”

Rob Ager: “In order to escape his endless left-turning loop of abuse, Danny must change directions and exit to his right [in the snow maze].”

A Clockwork Orange, 1971

The Shining, 1980

As Idyllopuspress observes in her huge study of The Shining:

“That deja vu fits in with The Shining and other Kubrick films, the eternal circle, though in Kubrick's films events don't replicate endlessly, they instead are revisited under similar circumstances with opportunities for different outcomes. It fits with Jack's wandering the maze in the blizzard.”

Hence, the recurring refrain, “Forever and ever and ever” repeating in Kubrick’s films.
